Annette Diaz
Annette Diaz was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, to Elba and Juan Diaz; she is one of 15 siblings. At the age of five, her family moved to New York City. Annette attended and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn. She was brought into Local Union #3, IBEW by her brother, Eddie. He was employed at by Hallmark Electric Supply Co. for 24 years.
Annette was initiated into Local 3 I.B.E.W in 1978 and started my first union job with Hallmark Electric Supply working in the billing department. In 1993, I joined Midtown Electric Supply in the Lighting Department, where I began in billing, transitioned to sales, project management, purchasing and Lighting Manager.
In 1997, she became Assistant Shop Steward. By 2005, I made Shop Steward. In an effort to help others like myself become more aware of what the union had to offer. She joined the Local No. 3 Advisory Board for the Supply Division, and in 2007 went on to become its Chair Person. Annette was also a member of the Union Committee, were she helped members with their grievances, and was instrumental in negotiating the 2008-2011 contracts for the Supply Division. Currently she is a member of the Local No. 3 Election Board and serves on the Joint Labor Management Grievance Committee and the Employees Security Fund of the Electrical Products Industry.
On September 10th, 2009 Annette was appointed as Business Representative of Supply Division and Hotel Telephone Operator by Business Manager, Christopher Erickson. She is currently working under Assistant Business Manager of Manufacturing, Luis G. Restrepo, and represents 52 companies in the Supply division of IBEW Local Union #3. She is working closely with Local Union # 3 organizer, Ryan Hughes, on organizing new companies into the Supply division. She is also working under Business Manager of Maintinence Division, Lance Van Arsdale, and represents 50 Hotels in New York.
Always looking to further her education, Annette is currently attending Cornell University. She is a Trustee of the Santiago Iglesias Educational Society and a member of the Amber Light Society and is on the Board of Trustees for the Employees Security Pension, Health and Welfare Fund and is a member of The Electrical Workers Minority Caucus..
Annette is the proud mother of two sons, Luis and Jhonny. In her spare time Annette enjoys dancing, tennis and attending baseball games.
