Franklin Miranda

 

Franklin Miranda was born and raised in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, New York. He is the youngest of 3 children. His parents, Rodolfo born in Cumana, Venezuela and Nelly was born in Villa Vasquez, Dominican Republic. Franklin graduated in 1998 from Harry VanArsdale Jr. High School. In September of 1998, he was initiated into the Local Union #3, where he worked as an apprentice electrician in the Apprentice Program. As an apprentice he was active in the apprentice advisory committee, served as chairman of the legislative committee, co-chaired the annual blood drive, chaired the annual paintball / ski trip where over 200 apprentices participated in the event and was chosen to be a part of the 2001 Apprentice Contract Negotiation Team. He also served as classroom representative.

Franklin became an “A” journeyman in February 2003. In 2001, he completed his Associates Degree of Science in Labor Studies for Empire State College. Franklin has also completed a Bachelors Degree of Science in Accounting from Western Governors University. Currently, he is on track to complete a Masters in Business Administration in Strategic Management and Leadership by spring 2012. Franklin has completed the scaffolding course, advanced electrical code course, rigging course, MTA Track Certification Course, 10 hour OSHA Safety Course and CPR course offered by the Educational and Cultural Fund.

Franklin was a layout man on a 235 apartment building project for low income families in the Bronx. He has been an active member of Santiago Iglesias Educational Society since 2001and serves as committeeman. He is currently part of the SIES Website Committee where he plays a key role in redesigning club’s website. He is also an active member in the Bronx Acorn Club, the Futurian Society and Community Board #7 .

Franklin resides in Glendale, New York with his lovely wife Michelle. He enjoys outdoors activities, reading, and spending time with his wife and two sons, Frankie Jr. and Marco.
