Cosmos’ Kids

For over 10 years The SIES was able to provide underprivileged and physically handicapped children from New York City with a day at Bayberryland in Southampton, Long Island. With the help from Local Union #3 and Camp Integrity we were allowed the use of the camp grounds and access to its swimming pools and facilities. We provided the children with round trip transportation to and from Bayberryland as well as breakfast and lunch. We had health workshops, arts and crafts, softball games, basketball games, pony rides, kite flying, three legged relay races etc… We also had book fairs in which the kids were able to pick out books to take with them. This day came to be known as Cosmos Kids Day, Cosmo Soltren is the member who spearheaded this day and did a lot of the fund raising, planning and coordination needed to pull everything off. We all look forward to having this rewarding event again, once the new camp grounds are completed at the New Santarini Educational Center.
