Hector Muniz

 

Hector Manuel Muniz was born and raised in the Bronx and is one of six children.  His parents, Hector Luis and Carmen, both from Puerto Rico came to New York in the late 40’s.  Hector graduated from Samuel Gompers High School in 1980 and soon after was initiated into Local Union #3, where he started his Apprenticeship Program. He also attended Empire State College where he received his Associates Degree in Labor Studies

Hector became an “A” – Journeyman in 1986.  He completed the Rigging class, Asbestos Restricted Handler course, CPR class, Transit Safety course, Confined Space class, Lock-Out Tag-Out course, OSHA Safety course, Con Edison class and Shop Steward Training course.  The positions he has been a sub-foreman and shop steward.

Hector has been a member of S.I.E.S. for twenty-five years.  He presently serves as a Committeeman and been involved with Cosmo’s Kids Thanksgiving food drives and varies club activities.  He has been an active S.I.E.S. Softball Team member for twenty-five and the team’s manager for twelve years.  He is also a member of Brooklyn Bedsole Club and The Bronx Acorn Club.

He resides in the Bronx with his wife Daisy. They have three children, Hector Jr., Daniel A., and Daisy Y.  His hobbies are softball, golf and raising pigeons.
